Before cleaning begins
Confirm the checkout status, next arrival time, access method, parking or building rules, and whether a guest reported an issue. Remove obvious trash and collect used linens according to the property’s plan before room-by-room work begins.
- Confirm the unit is vacant
- Check the schedule and special guest notes
- Identify missing items or visible damage
- Start the agreed linen workflow
Clean and reset room by room
Use a consistent order so tasks are easier to verify. Kitchens and bathrooms often need the most detailed sanitation and visual checks; sleeping and living spaces should feel orderly, dust-free, and ready for listing photos to become reality.
- Kitchen surfaces, sink, appliance exteriors, and floor
- Bathroom fixtures, mirror, shower or tub, and floor
- Beds made with the correct clean linens
- Dusting, vacuuming, mopping, and furniture reset
- Agreed amenities placed consistently
Finish with a guest-eye walkthrough
Walk the unit as if you have just opened the door for the first time. Check odor, temperature, lighting, visible hair or debris, bed presentation, bathroom supplies, and anything out of place. Record concerns through the agreed communication channel.
Common questions
Helpful details before you decide
Should every property use the same checklist?+
No. Use a shared foundation, then add unit-specific instructions for surfaces, appliances, amenities, owner storage, access, and building rules.
Is a turnover clean a property inspection?+
No. A cleaner can report visible issues included in the process, but this does not replace a formal maintenance or safety inspection.
